Early Life

Christopher Julius Rock was born on the 7th of February, 1965, in the little town of Andrews, South Carolina. The following year, Rock and his family traveled to Brooklyn, New York, eventually settling in Bedford-Stuyvesant after a second relocation.

His education continued as he was bused to schools in predominantly white Brooklyn neighborhoods, where he was tormented and harassed by his white classmates.

Due to the increasing severity of the bullying, he decided to drop out of high school and work at fast-food restaurants while pursuing his GED.

For Rock’s first attempt at stand-up comedy, he went to New York City’s Catch a Rising Star in 1984. His acting prowess led to his being cast in several television shows, including “Miami Vice.”

Rock was discovered by Eddie Murphy at a nightclub during a stand-up routine trained, mentored, and even cast Rock in his debut film, “Beverly Hills Cop II,” in 1987.

Chris was a guest star on the largely black-oriented sketch show “In Living Color.”. Due to the show’s cancellation a month after his debut, he was only featured in six episodes.

A comedy that cost only $6 million to make but brought in $18 million in revenue, “CB4” was Rock’s next project, and he starred in it.
